Last year has been the most active year ever for metallon. A relevant milestone was the start-up of the new own office. The Technical Assistance tasks covered a broad field: coking, sintering, electric furnace, ladle metallurgy, continuous casting, rolling, product development and defects (the two last for both the iron and steel and the foundry industry).
Two new alerts are being added in January: Copper & Alloys, and Aluminum & Alloys. These alerts add to the twentythree alerts already being sent to the suscribers. They can be requested to biblioteca@metallon.com.ar or on line in subscription (registration required).
Two training activities for rolling mill, drawing plant, customer technical support and product engineering were carried out at two Brazilian cities. Aspects like the tools required to carry out metallographic studies, the metallographic support for quality evaluation on billets and blooms, the evolution of metallographic structure during reheating, rolling and cooling, as well as the use of metallographic tools
metallon was involved in a technical assistance to a steel plant, in relation with the continuous casting of steel semis. The job included aspects like the choice of casting powders, the review of oscilation parameters, the control of secondary cooling zones for satisfactory casting of a particular steel grade.
